In Acts 6, when it became apparent that some people weren't receiving the help they should, the disciples organized the first committee, deacons, to make sure that widows and orphans were being fed. The truth is, unless there is some sort of administration, nothing gets done -- or at least not done very well. Unfortunately, sometimes in the church, committees can become the work of the church, rather than being the backbone that provides structure so that the real work of the church can be done.
Church Ministry Teams
Most groups at Trinity do not hold regularly scheduled meetings or involve people who have been elected to these positions. Rather, people who express an interest are invited to gather occasionally, communicate regularly, and work on an ongoing basis in their respective areas.
Mission and Outreach Team
Every couple of years we meet to set the course for our mission and outreach programs over the next several years. In between, oversight is provided by the board of Deacons (left) while individual members carry out the work of the Community Meal Program, the Homeless Shelter, Youth Mission Week, food collection for the food bank, and various other programs.
