Holy Week 2014
Maundy Thursday, April 17
7:00 pm Jesus' Last Supper
We will celebrate communion around the table in Fretz Chapel (main level). This service will conclude before sunset for those who do not like to drive at night.
7:30 pm Jesus' prayers in the Garden of Gethsemane
Following our remembrance of Jesus' Last Supper, we will move to the sanctuary. Using the music of Taize, we will enjoy a time of quiet prayer, the reading of several psalms, and the story of Jesus' final prayers and eventual betrayal. This is a candlelight service which will begin before sunset but end after dark.
The Maundy Thursday services are designed to flow from one part of the story to the other, following the movement that would have happened that holy night, but also allowing for those who can only attend part to enter or exit.
Good Friday, April 18
10:30 am Good Friday Walk
Meet on the lawn between Zion's UCC and Emmanuel Lutheran Church at 10:30 for a prayer walk through the streets of Pottstown. The event will begin with a children's time.
7:30 pm Tenebrae Service
We will extinguish lights as we read the story of Jesus' last hours until the sanctuary is left in total darkness. All who attend are asked to exit the building in silence after the service.
