Abraham and Sarah
The story of Abraham is long and complex. We teach it at several different points in our six year scope, each time covering a slightly different part of the story. Note that the same workbook for the computer workshop is used for all three lessons with different sections emphasized.
In our six year scope, the Call of Abraham and Sarah is taught on Sundays in Year 6 alongside other call narratives.
In our six year scope, Abraham and Sarah, the Promise of a Child is taught Sundays in the Fall of Year 4 and Wednesdays in the Fall of Year 2.
Creation Station - Children will make a scrapbook page for Abraham’s family.
Fisherman’s.Net - Children will explore the Abraham and Sarah program from Sunday Software. Older grades have the option of spending two weeks in this workshop.
Loaves and Fishes Café - no lesson this rotation.
Make a Joyful Noise - Optional music rotation for younger children. Children will “follow the leader” using rhythm instruments and sing “Father Abraham.”
Mountaintop Movies - Children will watch the part of the TNT movie that relates to the promise of Isaac from the three visitors up to the command to sacrifice Isaac, writing their own feelings/story conclusion.
Moved by the Spirit - Act out the story of the three visitors and Sarah’s laughter.
Temple Courtyard - Storytelling. Abraham or Sarah tells the story and asks the children to repeat it back to them.
